What a "black eye" this is ....
http://www.pjstar.com/news/x1658511524/Metamora-hired-teacher-despite-prior-felony
My first reaction of course, considering my daughter will be attending MTHS next year, is that of being pissed off. I mean, how in the hell does the administration and school board allow this? But, before I get all fired up, I'm going to wait and see the response out of MTHS concerning this. I have a feeling that if MetaFolks aren't pleased with the schools response, this could get sticky for whoever allowed this to happen. I pray the schools side to this story makes sense, if not .........

This is not the first time Maurer has stepped on his dick.
Change in Administration coming?

When my oldest son was a freshman at RW in 2001, it looked a little like PND. Today it looks like Central did in 2001. Once my #3 son graduates (#4kid) and my 2 daughters no longer are the litle sisters of BMOC, it might be time for a move.
Id still be ok with metamora

.........No way in Hell a kid of mine would go through Dist 150. My mom has worked there to long. It is getting much worse instead of better. My nephews and neice go to St. Phils. Thats not happening either I hated Catholic School. Only problem is I'm not big on any school district. Dunlap was the biggest joke I have ever seen. Washington maybe.

Apparently the PJS took down the comments for that story. Must have started getting nasty.

If I were starting out with kids again I would not choose 150. At this point I will ride it out.
Metamora will be fine. This is a "man bites dog" story - not a regular occurrence like in other unnamed districts.

I still have a 6th grader so I am sort of starting out. Hes got some pretty important years ahead of him, and the idea of him hitting HS after the consolidation has had a couple years to get screwed up. it really has me concerned. When hes a frosh #6 will be a SR....no good time to make a move, but I am thinking about it.

What the hell is going on in/at our schools?
I just read on the News Tribune site (www.newstrib.com) that the Ottawa High Superintendent was found dead at age 41 of an apparent suicide. Ottawa teachers of course have been striking and now the school is threatening to fire its teachers and hire new staff.
At my alma mater Bureau Valley, the superintendent may be removed due to a sexual harassment case involving a former district teacher. They had emergency meetings with attorneys on Thursday and Sunday, though I haven't heard what, if anything, came of last night's meeting. But the superintendent is no longer shown on the high school's website.

With the studs you and the Mrs. have produced, I'll gladly mail you listings of homes for sale in the Metamora-Germantown-Spring Bay area. We'd love to have him.jim beam wrote:I still have a 6th grader so I am sort of starting out. I still have to question the thought process with Mr. Maurer and the school board members that voted in favor of hiring this guy. Hey, I'm all for giving folks second chances. Where would any of us be without second, third, fourth ...... , but, not in a situation where the convicted felon is going to be around kids. That's a no brainer and the fact they hired this guy makes me question their abilities to lead.
Buddy of mine text me this morning and said 1470 gave it to Mr. Maurer pretty good this morning. Every person I've encountered or talked to about this situation has had the same response to this, "What the hell were they thinking?"

Maurer's an idiot. 2nd chance, 3rd chance, whatever.. you don't hire a convicted rapist to coach young girls. Ever.

Ironic that this situation may have been the deciding reason that John Gross was let go from Richwoods
