Re: Donivine Stewart's Age
Even if he is 17, he is still playing against other 17/18 year old kids and doing a much better job than the rest. So regardless of the year in school he is still putting up quality numbers against other varsity teams.

Re: Donivine Stewart's Age
I dont get this whole thing. In one day a newspaper reporter and 2 tv stations are saying he is 15....the kid himself is saying hes 15, a guy on here who has pretty good sources within the school is saying he's 15. A couple of internet posters are saying otherwise......Cmon, why should a kid have to prove hes a certain age, how bout those that claim its false come with something other than conjecture

It's still going to take seeing a certified copy of his birth certificate for some......

Re: Donivine Stewart's Age
I saw that on HOI Sports last night. Means nothing. Hell, my 44 year old sister when asked her age claims she's 29.x mid illini x wrote:GBG, Donovine Stewart himself has said he is 15
IMO, that would be sufficient proof. A PJStar newspaper article from 10 years ago claiming he's 5 isn't proof.MJG24 wrote:It's still going to take seeing a certified copy of his birth certificate for some......
I'm still curious as to why on his application to Flash Flanagan's camp this past Summer he left D.O.B. blank. Things that make you go hmmm......Jim Beam wrote:how bout those that claim its false come with something other than conjecture
It's not unreasonable why area sports fans are questioning the validity of Donovine's age. Based on the fact he basically came out of nowhere and is now totally dominating at the Varsity level for only a supposed 15 year old Freshmen, you honestly can't blame folks for pondering this. He doesn't look, act, or play like a Freshmen. Compared to other Freshmen in the conf., heck, Central IL for that matter, well, there is no comparison. Good grief, there's no comparison between him and any other area Soph.-Sr.'s. Other than say a Matt Roth, DJ Richardson, Nick Morgan and Simms-Edwards. Other than prolly those 4, he has no equal. Ya know, it's actually quite a compliment to the kid. He's so freakin' good, people are like, "No way in hades that kid is a Freshie!"Jim Beam wrote:Cmon, why should a kid have to prove hes a certain age
You, x Mid Illini x & MJG24, think we're belittling the kid, when in reality we're so captivated by this young mans talent that some believe(I was not the first to question. Actually, until I got a text from a friend, the thought never crossed my mind, but now....)there may be more to this whole "age" notion. True, it's a bit of a backhanded compliment, but a compliment indeed.x mid illini x wrote:I think your false rumor spreading was uncalled for and low...
This isn't the first time this has happened folks. UTVols reminded me yesterday that Donovine's story mirrors that, eerily actually, of Kevin Rhodes while he was a Freshmen at Canton. Kid nobody has heard of busts onto the scene, has a 5 o'clock shadow by gametime and is head and shoulders talent wise above his peers. Fans and Coaches questioned his(Kevin) age then, as they are now with Stewart. Only dif. is, Rhodes family complied and supplied a birth certificate. As was told to UTVols by their Basketball coach at the time.

Good Lord GBG - HE IS A FRESHMAN! How the hell else do you burst onto the high school scene? Freshman usually come out of nowhere in high school basketball.
EVERYONE that knew the kid, knew he was talented enough to step in and play at a varsity level as an 8th grader. In fact, he was participating in, and dominating, varsity open gyms from day 1. It's not his fault you and others weren't aware of his talent.
Did you watch the Mattson interview with Donivine where he DIRECTLY asks him to clear up the age rumors??? And did you see the other 2 (total of 3) news sources that also report he is 15? Are they all in on this cover-up?
And, as predicted, all the proof still means nothing to you.
And it is very unreasonable to doubt a kids age, especially after numerous accounts of his real age being reported. How you can spin that into a compliment about the kid is ridiculous.
I tell you what - send me an email and I will tell you how I KNOW the kid is 15....

Unless it's a copy of his certified birth certifcate, anything you have to say will have to be presumed rumor, not fact.MJG24 wrote:I tell you what - send me an email and I will tell you how I KNOW the kid is 15....
I'm a reasonable man though, shoot me a PM with what ya got.

Re: Donivine Stewart's Age
GBG, you really honestly think this kid is lying about his age? Prior to the interview I could see where you would think he might be older than normal age but he goes on local TV and says he is 15, why in the world would he lie about that? He has nothing to gain or hide by lying, I had my doubts before this interview but when the words " I AM 15" came from his mouth I gave him 100% benefit of the doubt, theres no reason not too. What your sister says her age is when asked has absolutely nothing to do with anything, its normal for middle aged women to try to portray themselves as younger, not high school boys

THIS is your evidence that he is 17???
I'm still waiting to hear your evidence or the source of your information. Information that led you to quickly conclude and state VERY CLEARLY that he was, in fact, 17.
What makes it even funnier, is the extent of the evidence that you now are requiring to prove to you he is 15....

So it is your friend or UTVols that is the age expert on high school kids. Where are they now? Again, what information were you and your friends going by? Just your compliments about his ability?

This is pissing me off......Donivine didnt burst on the scene out of no where. Perhaps you are just catching wind of it, and so you deem yourselves some sort of experts and trash him on the internet...I am going to allow this thread to go as long as there are rational folks talking about how ludicrous GBG is being, or until GBG comes on here and gives it up.
