My last crack at this. I think LWE is "officially" 8A. That said according to the IHSA site, the playoff class assignments change week to week. Here's a cut and paste from their site:

Last updated at 1:35 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2009.

This list shows hypothetical classes for the IHSA Football Playoffs. If the season had ended last weekend (after 4 weeks), the class cutoffs would have been made as shown below.

A school's football classification (1A through 8A) depends on the makeup of the entire 256-team field. Because the teams in this hypothetical field change from week to week, schools that are "on the bubble" may move back and forth between classes as the season progresses. Find out more about how the pairings are determined.

This list is not a prediction of the final classes and seeds.

I never look too much into these things. Richwoods generally slides between 5a and 6a all season but then they end up in 6a (since the 8 class syatem)

Is it really going to be possible for the The new Central HS to field competive teams. Logic would say that of the 900 kids that will be reassigned etc etc.....that Central would get the most. Manual will get some as will RW.

But I have a feeling that the Dist hasnt really thought this out very well....Heres my prediction, and we may never know if it went down this way.....

Many families from Woodruff will move out of the area so as to not have to attend Central. Richwoods will get the VonStueben and Hines kids and those are usually the better student/athletes.

Central will end up with the thugs from Woodruff and no one wants to go down to Manual....

So will Central and Manual be any better off for this change. Richwoods will pick up some more athletes, but they really dont need them....

I see Richwoods getting the Hines kids but not Von Stueben and I also see them picking up the central kids from the knolls and other neighborhoods north of war drive. Manual needs to just get back everyone who already lives in its district and this will drastically increase its numbers. I don't think you will see a lot of people move so they don't have to go to central. Many can not afford to up and move and the few that do are probably only going to have 1-2 years of high school left anyway. Not as many THUGS at Woody as you might think. A few wannabe who are easily kept in check if you want to stand up to them, most are extremely harmless.

To answer your ? I think you will see the major sports prosper, it may take a year or two but I think the big sports will show signs of superiority. The smaller sports will simply be able to field teams but not so much dominate. I think alot of it will be determined as who gets the coaching positions and how well all of the new coaches work together to share players(i.e. football/basketball)

If Duke keeps wrestling and Tim gets football, they should have immediate success, whether they get ALL their Woody kids or not. Basketball at Central will always be good, no? I don't follow track, but they should also do well.

I have no clue about baseball, but it's not a major sport anyway. Razz None of the 3 ever had much in soccer, so I don't expect much change there.

Are they actually going to enforce boundaries now?

Baseball will be an upgrade if for no other reason than it will be 3 less games they have to play against non competitive teams. The baseball at Central and Manual couldnt get any worse, so if they stay even thats fine, but then each team can schedule 3 more games against whoever will have them. Richwoods will benefit from this, the other 2 will likely play 3 less games because no one wants to play them

Scratch that. I forgot it was EP's homecoming on a Saturday. I'll be at Monmouth College watching the Scots demolish Grinnell.

Is that a tradition to play the homecoming game on saturdays? As much as I hated coaching on a saturday I kinda like the idea.
