Peter Cunningham, Richwoods Knights

Post  GoBirdsGo on 23rd October 2009, 09:40

9 catches, 6 have resulted in Td's. Shocked Sounds like Jr. is "money" Beamer.

J/W Beamer. Seems like your kids are pretty good athletes. Not really knowing you or the Mrs., just wondering where their athletic ability comes from? Were you or the Mrs. athletes?

I would say they get their talent from the Good Lord.

We have been very blessed with 7 healthy children.

GBG,

Had the Knights tried to go to #82 in the first 44 minutes of the RHS/QND game, the Knights would be 8-0.

No chance is right. We are sort of football/baseball on the boys side and basketball/volleyball on the girls side.

My wife played volleyball, softball and basketball. John Gross was her HS basketball coach ironically.

Didn't think there was a chance but I was talking to a former RHS wrestler that I coached and is friends with one of your older kids and he was saying he thought there was a chance. Just wanted to confirm. Trying to help build the program and the best way to do that is get good, hardnose athletes.

Obviously the kids inherited their mom's athletic genes.

Congrats to Peter and his team on a great season. Best of luck to Richwoods in the playoffs.

I'm thinking a round three game Vs. SHG in Peoria is a very real possibility.

Its a real possibility.....but you never know T....This team is hard for me to figure out. I'm pretty sure SHG will do their part to make that happen, but alot of things have to go right for RW to win these next 2 games....There is something intangible missing.

Thanks for the kind words.

So the Knights took care of business against maybe the smallest team I can remember. Thye tried to make up for it too, Man what a bunch of punks...I sort of liked it. It was more than scrappy and just slightly less than cheap....a little dirty. Our guys need to not worry about it and figure out a way to handle it themselves or shutup about it, but I am tired of kids looking at the officials with their arms raised up like

"are you kidding me, no flag" ....deal with it, figure it out and go play. gotta be tougher and smarter than the opponent.

Marion is up next and that is going to be a long day. Presuming a game time of 1pm. Players on the bus by 630am I would guess, to arrive by 11am. Players will be traveling by charter I am guessing. I will leave at appx 8am to arrive by 1230....will be traveling with wife, 2 teenaged daughters and 12yr old son. That sounds like unsyncronized bladders and at least 2 potty stops. Game over by 330 and then back on the road to be home by 9. Thats a 13 hr day for about 2 hrs of football.

I have done it many many times watching my boy play college baseball throughout southern IL, Mo, Ky, etc. the difference I am usually alone which I much prefer.

anyway I really hope the Knights take care of things in Marion, I would love a home game with SHG....If it happens it will be the first time RW has gotten to the 3rd round in a very long time...which is the main reason my boy decided to play

Without looking it up I'm going to say the last time the Knights got past the second round was ........1990. Jess Brown at QB and Darryl Taylor at FB. They lost on the road to Bloomington in a pretty tight game. I could be wrong but I'm going to stick with 1990.

You'd be correct.

1991 - '97: 0-1
'98: missed playoffs
'99 - 2004: 1-1
'05: 0-1
'06 - '08: 1-1

Damn that was a long time ago. I was hopping I was wrong. So the RHS/Metamora game of Stamm and co. vs. Brereton and co was in the second round.

Drawing Geneseo in 1993 in the first round was a lor of fun. People complain about the quads but they used to be just random pairings. They playoffs have come a long way from the days of: Play week 9 game on Friday, Play the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday Night then play round 2 game on Saturday. That was three games in a 9 day span. A lot of film watching for the coaches and players. If you had any injurues you were screwed.

Wes with another nice read. Going to be a real test for the Knights, It would be great for these kids to be the team that broke the recent second round loss barrier.

However saying Peter and TJ have combined for 8 TD catches (Peter has 7) Is like saying my wife and I are a combined 425 pounds. (She is about 130)
