Quincy Sr. High

Post  Teetime on 6th October 2008, 16:03

Does anyone here follow Quincy Sr. High School?

I see they had a game earlier in the year against Evansville IN. High School. That was a hell of a bus ride for someone? Geobytes says 245 miles.

How did that come about? Anyone know?

Shocked and I thought 45 minute bus rides to Canton were long. I couldnt imagine riding a school bus 245 miles.

It's probably a chartered bus. My high school's football team took a chartered bus a couple times when the trip was over 1.5 hours. Our basketball team took a chartered bus for anything that was out of town.

It came about because people complain about 45 minute trips. Seriously, so many teams are under the impression that road games means 30 minutes or less and there just aren't very many teams willing to drive to Quincy. QND has played Geneseo for 4 years at 4 hours away and Spring Valley Hall accepted a one year contract this year but only if they played at home another 4.5 hour trip. The trip to Indiana was done as an overnight which is unusual for football.

QHS playing in the WB6 in BBall makes 2.5 hour trips to the Quad Cities four times and a 2 hour trip to Galesburg once each basketball season and most of those teams hate making just one trip to Quincy.

When I was in high school, I loved road trips. My sophomore year, we traveled up to East Moline for a Friday evening game before the Varsity. It was great. For baseball, we took a couple different trips to Springfield. I always love as good road trip!

When the Redbirds played Mt. Vernon it was 234 miles according to Google Maps. I went to the game on the road and found out later I could have watched it on the computer, AT HOME! pale

Quincy high is now 6-0. Somebody is going to have to start opening theirs eyes to them in the polls. They still haven't appeared on IHSS as even a also ran. They will likely go 8-1 on the year.

The six teams they have beaten have a combined seven wins (four by an Iowa team).

I think it's more likely that they lose the last three.

R.I
R.I. Alleman
Chatham Glenwood

Those three have combined for 13 wins.

I was wrong about Quincy.

They beat Alleman. Should be a good game with Chatham-Glenwood.
